Is asking patients for reviews HIPAA-compliant?

Yes, when done correctly. Asking a patient to share their experience on a public platform like Google is permitted because the patient initiates and controls what they share. Cajoon's review request messages never include treatment details, diagnoses, or other PHI — they just ask how the visit went and provide a link. The patient decides what to write.

What about the AI-drafted responses — do they violate HIPAA?

No. The AI is configured to never reference specific treatments, procedures, dates, or any patient health information. Replies stay generic and warm ("Thanks for the kind words", "Glad you felt welcome") rather than confirming details about the visit. You always approve before anything posts publicly, so you have a final check.

What happens with a negative review?

Negative reviews route directly to your team for personal handling — AI won't auto-draft for anything below 4 stars. You'll see them flagged in the dashboard with a recommended response approach. We coach during onboarding on how to respond to negatives professionally without violating HIPAA (which is trickier than positives).

Which directories does Cajoon sync to?

The big ones for dental: Google Business Profile, Yelp, Apple Maps, Bing Places, Facebook, Healthgrades, Zocdoc, Vitals, Doctor.com, plus 40+ general business directories. Cajoon publishes consistent NAP (name, address, phone) data and lets you control which directories you want to be listed on.

Can patients leave a review without using my SMS link?

Of course. Cajoon's review request just makes it easier — the link goes straight to your Google or Yelp review page so they don't have to search. Patients can still leave reviews on their own anytime, and those reviews show up in the dashboard alongside the prompted ones.

How does this affect my Google ranking?

Two ways. More positive reviews with recent dates tend to improve local search visibility (Google factors review velocity and recency). Consistent NAP data across directories also strengthens local SEO signals. Together they typically help your practice rank higher when people search "dentist near me" in your area — though search ranking depends on many factors and we can't promise specific positions.
